Studio Slow decided to buy the plot on peripheries of swedish Town Hässleholm. It is a forest plot within housing collony of Skyrup with mature trees and lots of greenery. There are both white anemones and blueberries on the plot, which gives it a special connection to Sweden and its beautiful nature.
Building the holiday home on groundscrews, helped to preserve both nature and the hilly character of the plot, also minimise soil loss, which is an advantage for all root systems that naturally absorb water. Both under and around the holiday home, the land is left as natural land – as untouched as possible.
The timber structure of the walls, together with the insulation, was prefabricated.
This helped to keep the construction time short (about 3 weeks), to minimise the noise associated with the work and, last but not least, to limit the amount of waste on site. Packaging foils of the panels – the only leftovers from the site fit in the boot of a car and were taken to the local recycling depot.
The elements could also be dismantled and reused more easily when the house is no longer needed at this location.
